“To speak of a“ Jewish space ”other than in theological and geographical (or even geopolitical) terms presupposes a whole discussion of principle meant to elucidate what spatially expressed Judaism can mean: a topological cut-off, an area marked by principles and laws, a religious treatment of space management, a theology of housing, a dialogue between religious and historical tradition or other things of a theoretical nature. We can have, in this direction, multiple explorations, starting from positions of a great variety. But important, in this context, remains what Ionuţ Julean means by Jewish spatiality.
The book is a particular opening to the cultural, religious and identity universe of Jews in the European Diaspora, at a time when the translation to the Jewish community center took place, as the successor of the synagogue in fulfilling its multiple roles.
The debut in volume of the architect Dan-Ionuţ Julean is thus recommended as an event in the order of reading, training, but also of taking over on his own the interrogations regarding the Jewish spatial heritage and the modeling that it implies. »
